I woke up around 9:25AM, rubbed my eyes, washed teeth, and turned on my PC to check for new emails. Few minutes later I decided to put some music on my mp3 player. I choose Eric Morillo, performing for Sensation White on New Year's Eve in Dusseldorf. I discovered this little set last night and liked it a lot, that's how decision was made to be put on my mp3 thingie. After inserting the mp3 player in the USB port, I transferred the song and went on my merry way to school. I started walking and tried to switch on my mp3 player and guess what? Battery was dead. Lo and behold I had plan B - my calculator uses the same type of batteries as my mp3 player. Sweet, I took my backpack and tore the calculator's belly open to steal one battery. Job done, time for Eric Morillo......NOT! The little piece of sh*t displays a flashing exclamation mark with the message: "File System Corrupt." :)
Nice, I now have a corrupt mp3 player. So I continue to school and climb up Clifton as usual, passing by Deaconess Hospital. Few minutes later I joined my friends in Baldwin for some Electronics, a fun class that teaches you how to design circuits. It usually starts on time at 10:00am and the professor is required to hold us captive untill 10:50. Automata follows, taught by George Purdy, an interesting fellow that is funny sometimes, in a goofy way. I submitted my homework, which took me a couple of hours on Sunday to do. Today, just like last week, he forgot to bring his second notebook. His notes were enough to cover the first half of the class. He gave us a big smile and turned red by saying "I forgot it again!" He mumbles from time to time but that wakes him a character, not a really boring professor.
By the time I get out of this class it is usually time to go eat. Not today, I went up to the office to start preparing for the day and sift through my email accounts for new tasks. I usually start with opening my agenda, which is sometimes running out of space. This what it looked like today:
- UFB
- Robotics
- CD Reviews
- Electronics
- Start Presentation for tomorrow's meeting
- Sam's Club
- Bearcast Music Meeting at 6:30
- Automata Homework Due
- Robotics (yes second time)
- ### Forms (forms I have to fill out and submit)
Now comes the fun part - spending almost $1900 for the International Food Festival. I went to the University Funding Board and called 6 restaurants and paid for all the loot that we (yes, most of you reading this) are going to eat. Indian, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Greek. I still have to create an account at Sam's Club and order all the utencils and napkins. I am so pumped about this event, I have been wanting to make the Mega Free Food Event at UC and here is my chance. My buddies over at the group "Free Food @ UC" know me well and they know well my capabilities in free food advetures. Everyone that likes food, should come to Max Kade, the German Cultural Center at Old Chem. You being there makes me happy, whoever you are.
I then stared at my CDs waiting to be reviewed, waiting to get played and written. I like doing this but unfortuately I don't usually listen to Rock and it is a little hard to judge some of the melodies. Give me an electronic music CD and I can write you a well drafted 2 page paper. This week I reviewed 2 CDs, if you have time you should read my reviews here. I post there every week and you should find at least 5 of my reviews there. By this time of the day I hadn't eaten since yesterday's dinner and it was already late afternoon. I had enough time to grab a sandwitch that I will never get again - Spicy Chicken Burger from Wendy's. I like eating off-campus, it happens rarely that I eat in TUC, if I do it is because I am short on time like today or many of my friends want to eat there. After my delighful, greasy, chicken sandwitch I headed back to Baldwin to get ready for Robotics class that starts at 5PM. I went in 20 minutes early so I can finish my CD reviews. I did finish them. Good job me.
Robotics started and I revised my floor plan for a fire extinguisher painting cell. I have to design a cell where fire extinguishers are painted by two 100% automated robots. I did that in less than 5 minutes, I knew what was wrong with it. Then a little surprise came, I had homework due for today's class. I did not know about this one. Fortunately my partner B was ready to do it with me after school. Class ended at 6:15 and B went to get some dinner while I went to the Bearcast Music meeting. The meeting was fun, R gave me another CD to review - it was the newest CD by Cure, believe it or not I saw them in Miami this spring break. They were also on the main stage of the Ultra Music Festival. I won't get into details because I can write for ages.
I got done around 7:00PM and headed over to B's house, he lives in this big frat house and it was all nice and warm, he also mentioned they were a dry house. I would hate to live in a house where alcohol is prohibited. I understand it is to help keep down the drunk people but noone can deprieve me form the right to having a wine glass with some nice steamy dinner. We completed the homework in less than hour. The hour hand on the clock was pointing closer and closer to 9PM. It was time to go back to the office. I was also planning to start creating my presentation for IEEE tomorrow, where I have to present in fron of at-least 60 people but thank god we have a guest speaker, my air-time goes down significantly.
The time now is 11:48 PM and I still have to walk home for about 26 minutes in 28F weather and create that. UFB needs to have paid for it before K. goes to school tomorrow so she can pick it up. That means I have to be up by 7:30AM.
Okay, it takes time to type all this, it is now 12:46AM and I only need to do one Electronics problem, I have divided the up so I do one every night and I don't have to rush it on Sunday, it also helps with going along with Prof. Cahay and his lecture.
Last but not least I still have to call someone special. You know who you are.
Profit for today? Yes! Big? We'll see.
Hopefully I get to change some lifes forever by persuading them to switch to another major. I also get to feed about
It's 1:14 and I am finally done!
I'd love to hear some comments for my first blog!
